“Bateria TIM” opens registration for new members

From April 20 to 24, registration for new “Bateria TIM” participants will be open. The project, created in 2010, aims to promote the inclusion of children and young people with and without disabilities, through music, and is held in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

In 2020, the group of students was composed of 50 members aged between 6 and 18 with various disabilities (hearing, visual, mental). They formed the “Bateria do Instituto TIM”, inspired by the traditional samba school drums, together with mestre Mangueirinha, six musicians/monitors, and interpreters of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras).

In this edition, a novelty will bring more challenges and learning for the students: along with the percussion classes, there will also be body expression and singing classes through playful games, as well as body and vocal exercises. The rhythmists will participate in weekly rehearsals and in public presentations. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, classes will be held remotely until the face-to-face format can again be safely practiced.

The “Bateria do Instituto TIM” was created as part of the “TIM Música nas Escolas” project, based on the premise that teaching music can have a positive influence on other forms of learning and stimulate the development of a culture of peace.

It is worth mentioning that this edition is a Salvatore’s realization in partnership with the Centro da Música Carioca Artur da Távola, sponsored by TIM through the Cultural Incentive Law of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

The classes are free! Click here to access the regulations and register until April 24th.
