Students showcase TIM Faz Ciência

On September 26th the TIM Faz Ciência Interactive Metting was held in São Luiz Gonzaga-RS, in which teachers and students showed the school community the work developed in the classroom through the program. About 1,000 people visited the event, which was attended by the mayor of São Luiz Gonzaga, Junaro Figueiredo, and was an initiative of the Municipal Department of Education, Culture and Sport.

The meeting was held in a fair format and each school organized its own space with materials produced in the classroom. Upon entering the fair, visitors would walk through a chessboard-shaped route assembled on the ground, which brought the intellectual operations addressed by TIM Faz Ciência. The presentation of each school was made by two students, accompanied by the teacher. Besides learning about the work developed on TIM Faz Ciência, visitors could handle and participate in scientific experiments in the Physics for All workshop, a travelling interactive science and technology museum of the Regional University of Northwestern Rio Grande do Sul (Unijuí).

During the meeting, mayor Junaro Figueiredo strengthened the role of science in everyday activities and stated that the intellectual operations proposed in TIM Faz Ciência are indeed the way to scientific knowledge. According to the secretary of Education, Culture and Sports of São Luiz Gonzaga, Sonia Prates, the meeting was a success. “I was impressed by how motivated the teachers are to work the syllabus with the activities organized by the program. As it is expected, the result of this enthusiasm comes to the student as a means of motivation as they handle, interpret and carry out the activities,” added Prates.
