The three teachers who won the 2014 TIM faz Ciência Award have already used the prize received: a trip to Recife-PE with a partner. Glória Maria Silva Hamelak, from EM Antônio Mendes, Fortaleza-CE; Elba José Cidade Moura, from EMEF Governador Ildo Meneghetti, Porto Alegre-RS; and Samuel Ricardo Dias Macedo, from EMEIEF Tarsila do Amaral, Santo André-SP, were honored at the end of 2014 as their activities stood out during the first edition of the TIM Faz Ciência program.
In the five days they visited the capital city of Pernambuco, the teachers saw different sides of Recife. Elba visited historical places and was delighted by the diversity of the local culture. “We came back different, richer in culture, knowledge, and with renewed energy,” says the teacher. Samuel chose to visit the beaches in the region, including in the neighboring states Paraíba and Alagoas.
The visit to Espaço Ciência, a science and technology museum supported by Instituto TIM and located in Olinda-PE, caught the attention of Gloria. “It is a fantastic, very well planned location. I recommend it for all educators,” she says. The teacher also visited historical and cultural places, such as Ricardo Brennand Institute, chosen in 2014 by TripAdvisor users the best museum in South America, and São José Market, with regional crafts and typical food.
