The authors of the proposals selected in the public notice to support science and technology museums and centers were announced in the Federal Official Gazette. Instituto TIM, in partnership with the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), launched the public notice in October 2015. Through the initiative, R$ 2.5 million will be distributed between 50 benefited projects.
A team composed of members of CNPq and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) evaluated the proposals. Projects from 18 Brazilian states were selected, focused on children from 4 to 10 years old. Among them, 90% are related to the International Year of Light, which was concluded in 2015 and chosen as the theme of the public notice. There are also projects of other topics that promote science dissemination for that age group.
“The public notice was a huge success, with 201 submissions. The whole amount offered will be consumed by well qualified projects,” says Douglas Falcão, director of Popularization and Dissemination of Science and Technology of the MCTI. “I am sure this call for bids will fulfill its role of bringing science dissemination to the public,” he says. The public notice is part of the Instituto TIM supporting line for science and technology museums and centers.
