Login Cidadão will be used as the new user authentication system for Mapas Culturais deployments. This tool is a free software created by the government of Rio Grande do Sul, which allows a single registration for every citizen for digital government services. As it already happens with Cultura RS, Mapas Culturais installation in Rio Grande do Sul, the new installations will be developed by using Login Cidadão for the registration, authentication and login of cultural agents. Existing installations will be advised to update the software.
The choice for Login Cidadão was collectively made by representatives of all the active network of Mapas Culturais in the 3rd Encontrão Hacker, held in May 2015 in Fortaleza (CE). Instituto TIM and Ceará State Department of Culture organized the event, which held discussions and exchanges of experiences on the future of the platform, in addition to marking the launch of Mapa Cultural of Ceará.
To adapt the Login Cidadão software to the characteristics and needs of Mapas Culturais, a meeting was held between February 24 and 26 in São Paulo (SP) at the headquarters of Hacklab, partner knowledge lab of Instituto TIM in the development of Mapas Culturais. The meeting brought together the systems analyst of the Data Processing Company of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (PROCERGS) Guilherme Donato, one of the people responsible for developing Login Cidadão; the coordinator of Communication and Press Office of the São Paulo State Department of Culture, Renata Beltrão; the Mapas Culturais staff; and developers who participated in person and online. The opening of the meeting was broadcast live over the Internet and can be seen on this link.
The participants have dedicated to make improvements and adjustments in the software so that all installations can use it efficiently. Renata also shared some issues relating to the development of the Mapas Culturais deployment in the state of São Paulo, which will be launched in late March and will be integrated with the Login Cidadão software. In the first day of meeting, Guilherme said that the software has gone through some settings for easy customization of the code by those who want to use it, and that with this meeting it should evolve further.
“I believe the combination between Login Cidadão and Mapas Culturais is quite promising, it can only improve over time. These are two free software programs and it has community that is much interested in its citizens, in understanding the people well,” he says. On the 27th, the participants also visited the Fullstackers event, held at Google’s office and focused on the development of civic applications.
