On December 21st, Bateria do Instituto TIM held its traditional end-of-year presentation for friends, family, and the general public. Around 70 people attended the Artur da Távola Municipal Reference Centre for Rio de Janeiro Music (CMRMC), in Rio de Janeiro-RJ, to celebrate the event.
The presentation aimed to exhibit the work developed throughout 2019 by musicians, monitors and the conductor, Mestre Mangueirinha. Classics of Brazilian music like “Tristeza”, “Lata d’água”, “É hoje”, “Cidade maravilhosa”, and “Maracangalha” were in the repertoire of the performance.
Now, the drummers take a break for the holidays. The rehearsals will be resumed on January 11th, and the next presentations are already scheduled: February 8th, at the pre-Carnival of the Municipal Reference Centre for Rio de Janeiro Music, and February 15th at Minibloco, a children’s block that parades in Rio’s Carnival.
The Bateria do Instituto TIM is composed of around 50 children, young people and adults who are both disabled and non-disabled. Rehearsals always take place on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Municipal Reference Centre for Rio de Janeiro Music, which is located in the neighborhood of Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro.
