TIM Music Rio: The TIM Institute Drums thrill the audience and celebrate inclusion

On June 1st, the TIM Institute Drums gave an exciting performance at TIM Music Rio, bringing a lot of music and joy to the festival. Known for celebrating the best of Brazilian music for free in one of the most beautiful places in Rio de Janeiro, the event had the special participation of Bateria, who brought a contagious energy and a message of unity and inclusion to everyone present. The performance included different rhythms and hits such as “Coisinha do Pai”, “Maracangalha” and “Emoriô”.

The families of the group’s members were the most excited among the crowd that lined the sands of Copacabana beach to watch the festival. Adriana Zukoski, mother of student Abhay Zukoski, was very moved, especially because her son had recently suffered serious health problems and, according to her, the Drums’ support made all the difference: “My son turned 18, he’s a wheelchair user and he’s been in the project for three years. The Drums have encouraged him to fight and live. I was very excited and proud to see my son performing. I felt very happy, a sense of accomplishment, because I helped him get there too.”

Promoting inclusion and social integration, the Drums is made up of people with and without disabilities, providing a space where everyone can learn and express themselves. The program offers free percussion, singing and body expression classes at the Carioca Music Center in Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. The initiative transforms lives, enriches the experience of participants and their families, and creates a community of mutual support.

Aparecida Cavalcanti Santos, mother of student Eduardo Cavalcanti, highlights how participating in Drums has changed her: “I’ve become a more patient person, especially with my son, because I’ve realized that I also have my limitations and need support and perseverance.”

The TIM Institute Drums remains committed to inclusion, joy and valuing differences. Each performance is a celebration that shows that, together, everyone can go further and overcome any challenge. The current cycle ends in August, and the team is already preparing for new vacancies for the next cycle.
