Support to Science and Technology Museums and Centers

Since 2013, Instituto TIM has been investing in museums and science and technology centers, enhancing education, communication and science popularization actions

The Challenge

According to the publication 2015 Brazil Science Museums and Centers, there are at least 268 venues focused on popularizing science in Brazil. They are museums, zoos, planetariums, botanical gardens that work with surrounding school communities and offer spaces for education and entertainment to the broader audience. Albeit receiving governmental investments and support from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations, many of these institutions require support and resources from private organizations to boost the reach of their actions.

Publico

Children aged 4 to 10 years and overall museum visitors.

Proposal

The first institutions backed by Instituto TIM were: UFMG Espaço do Conhecimento (Knowledge Space), in Belo Horizonte (MG); Museum of Astronomy and Related Science (MAST), in Rio de Janeiro (RJ); UFPR Museum of Natural Sciences, in Curitiba (PR); Emilio Goeldi Museum in Pará, in Belém (PA); and Espaço Ciência (Space Science), in Olinda (PE).
