Six municipal departments of Education (SMEs) have decided to adopt TIM Faz Ci\u00eancia<\/a> as an official project for their education networks. In the cities of Florian\u00f3polis-SC, Porto Alegre-RS, S\u00e3o Bernardo do Campo-SP, Santo Andr\u00e9-SP, Teres\u00f3polis-RJ and Itapevi-SP, the program will contribute to the curriculum of municipal schools in 2015. Last year teachers participated in the project on a voluntary basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had very positive results. That\u2019s why this year we have enrolled all 4th and 5th grade teachers that did not participate in 2014,\u201d says Cec\u00edlia Prado, head of the Teaching Enhancement Department of the S\u00e3o Bernardo do Campo SME. A total of 11,000 students in the municipality will have access to the material. \u201cThe program contributes not only to the teaching of science, but to all the teacher\u2019s work in the classroom,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

In Porto Alegre, Santo Andr\u00e9, Teres\u00f3polis and Itapevi, all 4th grade teachers and students from municipal schools will participate in TIM Faz Ci\u00eancia. In Florian\u00f3polis all 4th and 5th grade students will take part in the program.<\/p>\n

Among the many positive comments received by teachers, Prado highlights the activities involved, which attract children to the learning process, criteria-based assessment forms, interdisciplinarity and the interesting and thought-provoking stories used at the start of each operation. In January, the S\u00e3o Bernardo do Campo SME organized a meeting between school head teachers and coordinators, educational advisors from the SME and the TIM Faz Ci\u00eancia team to introduce the program. Teachers from S\u00e3o Bernardo will take part in four TIM Faz Ci\u00eancia training sessions over the course of the year.<\/p>\n
