The recordings of six new courses of TIM Tec were completed. Now, the courses will be edited and reviewed in order to be launched in 2017, integrating the platform portfolio that, currently, has 25 courses. In addition to technology-related content, for the first time the TIM Tec platform will offer micro-entrepreneurs centered courses: Undertaking with purpose, Undertaking my business and Developing and growing my business.
The three courses will provide an overview of entrepreneurship in Brazil and explain key concepts for who is becoming an individual micro-entrepreneur (MEI) or starting a micro or small business. Brand, purpose, financial planning, innovation, laws and regulations will be some of the topics included. “In general, the content is for everybody who wants to be entrepreneurs, within their own reality”, says Teco Medina, professor of the courses together with Alan Edelstein, Reginaldo Silva and Flávia Beckerman.
Teco is focused on the financial field, which he believes to be quite disowned by micro and small entrepreneurs. “I have the thesis that part of the people who are undertaking is too focused on the product, while there is another group of people who are inborn sellers. Therefore, you have product and sales specialists, but that are careless with the financial area”, he says. “It is a very sensitive area in which you have to be careful, because if it’s not going well, the company can go bankrupt.” For the professor, the course has a huge demand, especially in this moment when there are many Brazilians starting their own business.
The professors also interviewed for the course four small entrepreneurs who told their history, challenges and difficulties faced. “There are four complementary and very different stories. Somehow, everyone will identify with them”, ensures Teco. The interviewees were Carolina Mara de Oliveira, of the online store of cosmetics for black women Prapreta; Diego Augusto Ximenes, of the app 99jobs, which connects professionals and recruiters; Gislaine Marcandali, of Volare, manufacturer of portable lavatories; and Moisés Dias Pena, of the brand of square slippers Kuatro Kantos.
Technology
One of the technology courses that were recorded this year was the Digital self-defense, given by professor Silvio Rhatto, who is also responsible for the TIM Tec course Best practices in software development. The content will focus on digital security and address issues such as safe web browsing, security procedures for mobile phones, encryption, among others. “We planned a course that can serve for both audiences, those who want to protect themselves and those who want to be security professionals, but don’t have the critical thinking required to work in this field”, explains Silvio.
Throughout the lessons, students will be invited to do exercises based on their personal experiences. “What spans the course is a safety checklist, a list in which the person is going to list daily security problems, the systems they use and think about what defenses can be applied. At the end, the student will have a global defense list”, tells the professor. Silvio adds that the security market is growing and that there are not enough qualified professionals in Brazil. “The main device used by people to connect is the mobile phone, and it is full of security holes. The market still has a lot to explore”, he says.
There will also be launched in 2017 the courses Development with Python, with professor Felipe Cruz, and Development of APIs in REST, with professor Alexandre Saudate.
