University Students Participate in the Last Workshop of the AWC 2020 Edition

In an atmosphere of celebration, the closing workshop of the 2020 Edition of Academic Working Capital (ACW) was held on July 3. The main topic of the meeting was the preparation for the Investment Fair, which took place on July 10th, where the students, after a ten-month journey of work, presented their products to experts and investors. “The AWC’s great goal is to formulate ideas, believe in them, and transform them into life projects, into business plans that can contribute to society, generate jobs in the country, develop the economy, and generate social action. We, from Instituto TIM, strongly believe in our role of leveraging initiatives and the value of people. We want them to fly,” said Marcio Lino, director of Instituto TIM, at the opening of the meeting.

The fifth and last workshop started in the morning with the testimony of four participants from previous editions of the AWC. The goal was to show the university students what possible paths can be taken after the program ends – diversifying the business, entering the job market, seeking new financing. “It’s important to understand where you are in life, what you want at this moment, in what ways you can access your network, talk to people, and raise funds so you can do what you want to do,” advised Bruno Azevedo, founder of Thinkmilk, a company that develops devices to control milk quality and detect diseases in animals.

Afterwards, the students attended the lecture “Inclusion of Diversity in Companies” given by TIM Brasil consultant Fillipe Xavier da Silva. Promoting a corporate culture of respect and appreciation of the differences between people is one of the commitments made by TIM in its Strategic Plan 2021-2023, which integrates ESG – Environmental, Social and Governance – criteria with the business strategy (see TIM’s ESG Report, available at http://ri.tim.com.br).

In the late morning and throughout the afternoon the focus of the workshop was on organizing for the Investment Fair. The groups presented their products to a panel of guests, as a way to train for the pitch at the Investment Fair, in which the students had three minutes to expose their projects to potential investors. The workshop concluded at the end of the day with a lot of emotion of the staff and the students. “May this program be a preparation for each one’s life journey. Whatever they need, we will be here to help,” said Professor Marcos Pereira Barretto, AWC’s academic coordinator.
