At Tuesday, April 16, the Bateria do Instituto TIM celebrated in a high style and in the company of TIM employees a great achievement of the company: The Prêmio Anatel de Acessibilidade em Telecomunicações 2019 (Anatel Award for Accessibility in Telecommunications 2019), granted by the National Telecommunications Agency. The presentation took place at TIM headquarters in Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
The company that wins the first place in the Accessibility Ranking of the agency receives the Anatel Award. This ranking classifies and compares the five largest telecommunications companies according to the General Accessibility Regulation, in order to encourage the creation of more active accessibility policies and the development of new technologies to serve over 45 million Brazilians with disabilities, according to IBGE data.
The award ceremony took place in Brasília (DF). The meeting was attended by Anatel’s CEO, Leonardo de Morais, First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro, Senator Mara Gabrilli (PSDB/SP), Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications, Júlio Semeghini Neto, and the President of the Board of Directors of TIM, Nicandro Durante.
Initiatives such as the promotion of the Giulia application – Hands that speak for the hearing impaired and the partnership with the Benjamin Constant Institute for the creation of the Emoti Sounds plug-in for visually impaired people are examples of actions implemented by TIM.
The Bateria do Instituto TIM is also an important initiative for inclusion: most of its members have some kind of disability.
