TIM Tec dynamic attracts specialists

What most attracted professor Marcos Barretto, from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, to give one of the courses that will be offered on the TIM Tec platform was the project’s characteristics. That is, that the platform is a free software and the video lessons are licensed under Creative Commons, enabling its reproduction, remixing and reuse by anyone.

“That was the most appealing thing about the proposal. Not only the platform, but the open source content,” said the professor, who has a degree in Electronics, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. For TIM Tec, Marcos will offer an introductory course on the development of apps for smartphones and tablets that use the Android operational system, in partnership with Rafael Gonçalves, who holds a Master’s degree in Mechatronic Engineering. ”Offering the courses via TIM Tec platform reinforces the culture of free knowledge, offering content to a territory of technological demystification where anyone interested can begin their training”, adds Rafael.

The introductory course on app development for Android O.S. is currently in the production phase. It is expected to be made available on the TIM Tec platform in March. “The aim is to take someone who has an idea of how to program in a given language and make their first apps with Android”, explains Marcos. Students will create a development environment on a regular computer, using an emulator. After that, they will create a series of simple games to learn how to use Android resources.

Marcos Ribeiro Pereira Barretto has been a professor at USP since 1986 in fields linked to Information Technology and Automation. With over 30 years of experience in IT, he has published over 100 articles in magazines and national and international congresses.
