Agentes da Transformação in 2014

The Agentes da Transformação project will be held in another 7 pacified communities of Rio de Janeiro in 2014 and will be a little bit different: the young researchers will not only collect data, but will also be responsible for listing the households to be surveyed. They will be trained and will work on a pre-list, provided by Pereira Passos Institute, a Rio de Janeiro City Government agency which is a Instituto TIM partner in this project. Until then, this process was handled by another institution; with the change, the scholars will carry out all the steps of the research.

The communities to be surveyed this year are Batan (Batan), Unidos de Santa Tereza (Fallet/Fogueteiro/Coroa), Salgueiro (Salgueiro), Morro Santa Marta (Santa Marta), Parque Oswaldo Cruz (Manguinhos), Mangueira (Mangueira) and Bairro Ouro Preto (Lins). The young participants are selected in their own communities, 10 in each, and undergo research and data collection training and learn how to use the software developed specifically for this project – Para Pesquisa (For Research). After the training they visit the households listed and interview residents aged between 14 and 24 years, applying 3,500 questionnaires.

The goal of Agentes da Transformação is to learn about the young people in the surveyed communities, as the results of the data collection will contribute to the formulation of public policies and private initiatives in the communities. In 2014, the questionnaire will have more questions in order to have better answers. The goal is for the questionnaires to begin to be implemented in August.
