Instituto TIM’s support to science and technology museums and centers continues in 2014, but with changes. Starting this year, choosing the institutions and activities will be made by means of a bidding process. The focus of the initiatives are science education and popularization projects aimed at children aged between 4 and 10 years.
The bidding process will be conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), and will soon be published on CNPq’s website. Initiatives and projects of science and technology museums and centers across the country can register. The projects received through the public notice will be evaluated together with CNPq and MCTI, and the results will be announced here.
In 2013, Instituto TIM supported initiatives from Espaço Ciência (linked to the State Department of Science and Technology of Pernambuco, located in Olinda), Espaço do Conhecimento UFMG (linked to the Federal University of Minas Gerais, in Belo Horizonte), the Museum of Natural Sciences (linked to the Federal University of Paraná, in Curitiba), the Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences (a MCTI research unit, in the city of Rio de Janeiro) and Emilio Goeldi Museum in Pará (also connected to the MCTI and located in Belém). Together, these institutions received more than 70,000 visitors and participants of workshops, events and programs in 2013.
