Bateria do Instituto TIM played in the first day of the 20th International Telecommunications Society Biennial Conference (ITS 2014), which is being held from November 30th to December 3rd at Sheraton hotel, in Rio de Janeiro-RJ. With the theme “The Net and the Internet: Emerging markets and policies”, the event brings together professionals and experts in the information , telecommunication and technology industries from different countries. Bateria do Instituto TIM participated in the cocktail reception for guests, held on the afternoon of November 30th.
The president of ITS, Eric Bohlin, and the president of the conference and vice president of Instituto TIM, Mario Girasole, welcomed the approximately 100 people who attended the ceremony. Then, the capoeira group Senzala showed this mixture of fight, play and dance to the audience.
After the capoeira circle it was Bateria do Instituto TIM’s turn. Around 20 children and youths played classic Brazilian songs using percussion instruments with the aid of six monitors and a sign language interpreter. Lead by percussion master Mestre Mangueirinha, the drum percussionists played songs such as “Xote das meninas”, “Aquarela do Brasil”, “Maracangalha” and “Aquele abraço”. The presentation was accompanied by 3 guest musicians: Eliel Santos (trumpet), Henrique Machado (saxophone) and Adriano Pimentel (keyboard).
The official opening of ITS 2014 will take place on December 1st from 11am, at a table composed by Eric Bohlin, Mario Girasole, Rodrigo Abreu (TIM’s CEO), Igor de Freitas (member of the Board of Directors of the National Telecommunications Agency – Anatel) and the minister of Communications, Paulo Bernardo.
