Another municipality has joined the Mapas Culturais Network: on November, 5th, Parnaíba (PI) launched its installation of the Mapas Culturais platform, Territori1. The launch ceremony occurred at the headquarters of the Superintendency of Culture. The event had the participation of the mayor Florentino Neto; Superintendent of Culture, Helder Souza; municipal secretary of Management, Alcenor Candeira Filho; municipal secretary for Social Development, Flaviana Veras; and the coordinator of the Masters in Museology at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), Áurea da Paz Pinheiro, and other guests. About 60 people attended the event.
The superintendent Helder Souza, responsible for the platform’s implementation in Parnaíba, emphasized the importance of the support provided by Instituto TIM to the city’s cultural management. “It is a pleasure that we witness the deployment of Mapas Culturais in Parnaíba, introducing, through this new software, a new model of cultural organization, promoted by Instituto TIM, which launched itself right into this courageous crusade to discuss and support the building of public culture policies”, he says .
The ceremony also hosted a coffee break with cultural interventions, such as poetry and music performances, as well as a visit to the temporary exhibitions of the cultural center. It was also presented the plan for the use of Casarão Simplício Dias, which is in the process of being established as the Casa Grande Cultural Center.
Parnaíba is the 15th installation of Mapas Culturais in Brazilian states and municipalities. The platform also operates in the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Sul, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, São Paulo, in the Federal District and in the cities of São Paulo (SP), Sobral (CE), Blumenau (SC), São José dos Campos (SP), João Pessoa (PB), Santo André (SP), Belo Horizonte (MG) and Ubatuba (SP). Operating in the Ministry of Culture, the software is used by other four platforms: Cultura Viva, Museus BR, Mapa das Bibliotecas e Mapa da Cultura.
