On March 27, members of Bateria do Instituto TIM had the opportunity to watch Cirque Du Soleil’s “OVO” show in Rio de Janeiro. The show became even more special with the presence of actor and singer Jonathan Azevedo, invited by TIM to accompany the group throughout the event.
Everyone who participated in the presentation of Bateria in the pre-Carnival of Rio this year received the invitation. People with disabilities and minors could bring a guardian so that no one needed to be left out. In all, 38 members of Bateria attended among 76 visitors (including companions, monitors, team members, and Mestre Mangueirinha, conductor of Bateria). During the break, there were free popcorn bags and soda pop for everyone.
“A unique opportunity!”, described José Augusto Chaves, who is visually impaired and has been playing the repinique in Bateria for five years. He loved Cirque du Soleil and thought everything was very beautiful.
Besides watching the show, Mariana Alves Rodrigues, who has been playing the rattle in Bateria for two years, was invited to visit the backstage, watch the show in the VIP area, and meet the artists who are part of Cirque du Soleil.
“It was wonderful. I did ballet for 10 years so it was very important for me because I got to see all the preparation, the artists, the costumes. All the details!” tells Mariana, who is 17 years old.
