The TIM Faz Ciência program paid tribute to three educators who stood out during the activities in 2014. The award ceremony took place in Porto Alegre-RS, on November 27th. The three awarded educators were Elba José Cidade Moura, of the 4th grade of EMEF Governador Ildo Meneghetti, from Porto Alegre-RS; Glória Maria Silva Hamelak, of the 4th and 5th grades of EM Antônio Mendes, from Fortaleza-CE; and Samuel Ricardo Dias Macedo, of the 4th grade of EMEIEF Tarsila do Amaral, from Santo André-SP. During 2014, more than 2,400 teachers and 70,000 students across the country attended TIM Faz Ciência.
The awarded educators received a trophy presented by the president of Instituto TIM, Manoel Horacio, the deputy secretary of the Porto Alegre Municipal Department of Education, Cleci Maria Jurach, and the PhD in Physics and expert in Teaching for Understanding and Educational Assessment, Cesar Nunes. “You are working with children who can make this country a better place. We hope that this award shows our appreciation to all teachers who contributed to education this year,” said Manoel Horacio before announcing the honorees.
The event had storyteller Kiara Terra as a master of ceremonies and was attended by representatives of the departments of Education of Santo André, Fortaleza and São Bernardo do Campo-SP. Principals and educators who participated in the TIM Faz Ciência program in these cities, in Porto Alegre and in São Paulo-SP attended the ceremony.
Besides the TIM Faz Ciência trophy, the three educators received a trip with all expenses paid along with a partner to Recife-PE, where they will visit Espaço Ciência.
