Public notice receives 201 projects

The public notice to support science and technology museums and centers, launched by the Instituto TIM in partnership with the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), created a great impact: 201 projects were submitted. Registration for the process closed on November 19 and the proposals are being evaluated by a team composed of members from CNPq and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).

“The public notice managed to achieve nationwide attention, which is very important. There was a great adhesion of Brazilian institutions of science promotion”, says Douglas Falcão, director of Popularization and Dissemination of Science and Technology of the MCTI. The selected projects will be announced in a few weeks in the Federal Official Gazette and on CNPq’s website.

The proposal selected will involve activities for the promotion, education and development of products related to light and aimed at children between 4 and 10 years old, as well as other initiatives that promote science dissemination for that age group. The theme was chosen to celebrate the International Year of Light, held in 2015.

“In Brazil we will have something different from the rest of the world: the International Year of Light will be extended to 2016. Institutions will continue dealing with this important issue,” explains Douglas, who also points out the quality of the proposals submitted. The public notice is part of the support line to science and technology museums and centers Instituto TIM and will distribute the amount of BRL 2.5 million between the selected projects.
